Trip itinerary

Johannesburg

4 nights

Your journey in the footsteps of Nelson Mandela begins in Johannesburg, a vibrant and contrasting city deeply shaped by
South Africa’s history. You will delve into Madiba’s legacy through visits to the Apartheid Museum, Soweto, Vilakazi Street, Mandela House and memorial sites dedicated to the struggle against apartheid.

To extend this immersion, you may also discover Sanctuary Mandela, the former home where Nelson Mandela lived after
his release from prison, now transformed into a boutique hotel and restaurant.
This iconic site, open to the public, offers an intimate and inspiring
experience around Madiba’s memory. At the fine-dining restaurant Insights, you will have the opportunity to taste some of his favourite dishes, inspired by recipes once prepared by Xoliswa Ndoyiya, Nelson Mandela’s personal and family chef for more than 20 years.

You will also discover Pretoria, the country’s administrative capital, home to the largest statue of Nelson Mandela, a powerful symbol of reconciliation and hope.

This first stage will also be an opportunity to enjoy a safari experience in Pilanesberg, a malaria-free wildlife reserve where you will set off in search of the Big 5 in a spectacular natural setting.

Cape Town

5 nights

Your journey continues in Cape Town, a
spectacular city where the story of Nelson Mandela still resonates deeply.
Between ocean, mountains, beaches and iconic neighbourhoods, you will discover
the city’s must-sees, such as Table Mountain, the colourful Bo-Kaap district,
the V&A Waterfront, and the beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay.

A highlight of this stage will be the visit
to Robben Island, the prison island where Nelson Mandela was incarcerated for
many years, now an essential place of remembrance.

You may also explore the Cape Peninsula,
admire the Cape of Good Hope and the penguins of Boulders Beach, before
savouring the South African art of living along the Wine Route, with beautiful
wine estates, tastings and local gastronomy.
